What are your rights?

As an Employee:
Ages 14-18 should receive a half hour break every five hours you work. Teens under 18 years of age may have up to 48 hours of work and school combined. When school is not in session, teens 14-18 may work up to 10 hours per day, but no more than 48 hours per week. Teens under 18 may not work more than 6 days of a work week. Teens under 18 may not work with hazardous machinery or chemicals.

To receive HIV/STD testing:
Free confidential testing is available without parental consent for anyone 12 years or older at Oakland County Health Departments.

  • Know Your Rights About Discrimination:

    Baby Drop-off Law:
    There is a Michigan State Law known as the Baby Drop-off Law. This law allows a mother to drop off a newborn less than 3 days old at a hospital, police or fire station without getting into trouble. For more information call 1-866-733-7733.
