If you are thinking about running away, talk it over with someone you trust. If running still seems like the answer, run to a safe place. It's much harder and more dangerous than you think to make it on your own.

A Step Forward

  • A free voluntary residential program for homeless youth ages 16-20 from Oakland County and beyond. The goal of the program is to assist homeless young people in developing the skills, confidence and means to self sufficiency.

National Runaway Switchboard

  • A confidential information and counseling service for runaway and other homeless youth, open 24 hours a day. The staff will stay on the line to talk things through with you and connect you to local sources for assistance. If you want, switchboard staff will send messages to your parents or arrange for a bus ticket home on Greyhound Bus Lines.
