Substance Abuse/Alcoholism

You do have choices about using drugs or alcohol. Besides being illegal-drugs and alcohol can kill. There is no way to know in advance how drugs or alcohol will affect you. Permanent damage can happen at any point-even if it is your first time.

If you or someone you care about have an alcohol or drug problem, it is important to get information about how to help them and how to help yourself. You may also want to talk about your feelings with someone who will listen and believe you-your parents, your school counselor or someone who has special knowledge about alcoholism or chemical dependency.
